1. Introduction
Cache lets you save links and screenshots, then organise them with tags and collections.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use Cache, why it is needed, where it is stored, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
Cache does not require an account, sell personal information, show advertising, or track your activity across other apps or websites.
2. Information the app handles
Cache handles information you choose to add to your library, including:
- saved URLs, titles, source labels, dates, and link-preview images;
- screenshots and their Photos library asset identifiers;
- tags and collections;
- text recognized on screenshots so you can search them; and
- technical records used to prevent duplicates, sync changes, and complete deletions.
Cache does not require a separate Cache account. You decide what to save through the app, the iOS share sheet, screenshot import, or explicit paste.
3. Photos, clipboard, and Share Extensions
Cache requests Photos access only when you use screenshot import. You can grant full or limited access and change that choice in iOS Settings. Screenshot images remain in your Photos library unless you remove them there.
Cache reads clipboard content only after you choose Paste in an empty link field. The Cache Share Extensions receive only the content you choose to share and pass it to the app through its private App Group.
4. Link previews and third-party websites
When you save or refresh a link, Cache may request the destination page, public metadata, or preview image. The destination website and its service providers may receive standard network information, including your IP address and the requested URL. Their own privacy policies and terms apply.
5. Where app information is stored
Your library is stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled and available, Apple CloudKit stores and syncs it in your private iCloud database so it can follow your Apple account across your devices.
Cache does not operate a separate server containing your library. Apple handles iCloud under your Apple account settings and Apple's privacy terms.
If you export a Cache backup, the file is stored wherever you choose. It can contain saved links, titles, tags, collections, and library settings. You are responsible for protecting and deleting exported files.
6. Website and support information
The Cache website does not currently use advertising, analytics, user accounts, or marketing cookies. Its hosting provider may process basic request, device, and security logs to deliver and protect the site.
If you contact support, the support inbox receives the email address, message, and files you provide. This information is used to respond, investigate problems, protect Cache, and meet legal obligations. Please do not send information that is not needed for your request.
7. Why information is used
Cache uses information only as needed to:
- provide the features you request and maintain your library;
- sync, secure, and troubleshoot Cache;
- respond to support and privacy requests; and
- comply with law and protect users, Cache, and others.
Where a law requires a legal basis, the applicable basis may include performance of an agreement, legitimate interests in operating and securing Cache, consent where requested, and compliance with legal obligations.
8. When information is shared
Limited information may be disclosed:
- to Apple for app distribution, iCloud, and operating-system services;
- to a destination website when you ask Cache to retrieve its preview;
- to hosting, email, and support providers that help operate Cache;
- when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security; or
- as part of a business reorganization, subject to this policy and applicable law.
Cache does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
9. International processing
Apple and other providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, provider terms and recognized safeguards support international transfers. Local privacy protections may differ by country.
10. Retention and deletion
App content remains until you delete it, reset your local library, or remove it through the relevant iCloud controls. A deletion may take time to reach an offline device or complete through iCloud.
Exported backups remain wherever you saved them until you delete them. Website security logs and support correspondence are kept only as long as reasonably needed for their stated purpose, security, disputes, and legal obligations.
11. Your choices and privacy rights
You can change Photos permission in iOS Settings, delete app content, and control iCloud through your Apple account.
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; and appeal or complain to your local privacy regulator. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
To make a request about information directly controlled through Cache support, email debraheug@gmail.com. Identity or authority may need to be verified before a request is completed. You will not be treated unfairly for exercising an applicable privacy right.
12. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used based on the nature of the information. No device, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
13. Children
Cache is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. Cache does not knowingly collect a child's personal information through a separate account service.
If you believe a child has provided personal information directly through support, contact debraheug@gmail.com so the information can be reviewed and deleted where required.
14. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when Cache, its providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date identifies the current version. Additional notice of material changes will be provided when required.
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to debraheug@gmail.com.
